2020-Rollercoaster

I spent a little bit of time thinking about things, and trying to decide, with everything that’s going on in the United States right now, which is where I live, what I should do or say, if I should post a new page, and just go on in this little space, as if everything was “normal”.

I’ve decided, and I apologize in advance, to take a moment to reflect, and acknowledge some things, and I will post a new page next week.

First off, votes are still being tallied. It’s less of a time push though, with the EC awarding nearly 300 of the 270 needed votes to Biden, at this point. There will be some recounts, most likely in Georgia, and either Wisconsin or Michigan, I can’t recall which, but that’s neither here nor there. The reason the announcement was made was because after the non-contestable Pennsylvania count was committed to Biden’s side, if the other recounts flip, Biden is still beyond the 270 cap.

A lot of people are out and celebrating, but there’s still a lot to do, many of Trump’s appointees don’t come up for replacement immediately, McConnell is still the Senate Majority leader, and he plans on being as intractable as possible. While there is definitely reason to exhale, this is not cause to sit back and relax.

There are many on the progressive side that are glad Trump’s out, but aren’t glad that Biden’s in, and I worry that many of them will do the same as the conservative fringe, and sulk, instead of being active, and continuing to push for change and accountability. That is something that makes me worry. We still have about two and a half months before Biden officially takes office, and in that time, there’s the potential for a lot of damage to still be done.

Trump has proven to be vindictive and childish, and I don’t think that’s about to change, in any capacity, which is why we have to stay vigilant. As a transwoman, I see this election as one win in a series of events that still needs to keep progressing forward. We have to keep pushing, and keep striving to be better, every day, on every field we occupy.

I apologize for this somewhat lengthy political post, but as I said when I spoke about #blacklivesmatter and George Floyd, I believe that any platform we hold, entails a level of responsibility.

Thank you once again for enjoying Seal of the Guardian, and sticking with me.

I’m So Sorry Everyone!

I know I promised an update, but holy corpuscles.

I think I mentioned it, but I have a torn rotator cuff, and it was absolutely horrid this week, and I’m still in a lot of pain. And to top it all off, our AC went out so I had two full days of melting in 100+F/42+C temperatures all weekend.

I’m going to try and get a page up for you all as fast as possible!

That’s right. The first chapter is up now on DriveThru for you guys.

I know not everyone wants to commit to a Patreon, or anything of that nature, so there is the option to snag a copy of the book for a one time fee, plus several bonus images and elements that can’t be found on the site itself! The book is 45 pages, with some behind the scenes talk, and several art pieces you won’t see anywhere else!

Also, once again, thank you all for your viewership and support!

Thoughts

A few days ago I made a pretty lengthy post on my personal facebook, in light of the protests that have been going on worldwide. A ton of this has been weighing on my mind, making it difficult to not just work on art, but also to rest or sleep.

I know you guys come here for some escape, and I apologize for interrupting it for this, but I also feel it’s incredibly important. That there are times where you have to take the platforms you have, and use them in a responsible manner.

A little over a year ago, I started working on a totally different idea from Seal of the Guardian. With the state of affairs in the world today, I’m both glad, and a little sad that I chose to set it aside to do this. Allow me to explain.

I was working on a much more politically driven concept that I titled “Black Anthem”. It was going to be science fantasy, but I was going to use the premise to address oppression, racism, segregation, and the like.

The reason I’m sad: Had I gone forward with that concept, it might’ve presented me with a stronger platform to spread more awareness.

The reason I’m glad: It could easily be construed as profiteering off of the oppression and misery that has plagued our society for far too long.

Right now, the world is finally coming to grips with the cobwebs that are being shaken from the collective eyes, and speaking out against injustice, murder, inequality, and the constant, systemic oppression of people of color, and that message is important. So important, that for the moment, I believe it needs to remain present, to be acknowledged, to be echoed.

I thank you all for the continued support you have given to me and my storytelling, and I will resume it soon, but in the mean time, we need to stand with our brothers and sisters.

Still Alive

Firstly, I’d like to apologize for the shortage of updates. Things are still moving forward, but we’re so close to the end of this chapter, I had to get the rest of the script in order, so that I convey what I’m trying to convey by the ending, because we’ll be shifting focus once more at the start of the next one.

Otherwise, aside from mental drainage, I’m surviving the quarantine mostly well. Let me know how you guys are doing, and always always, ALWAYS feel free to chat here and let me know what you guys think, if you have ideas, anything.
